Welcome

NETTC is a Baha’i inspired educational institution whose vision and values are based on the teachings and principles of the Baha’i Faith. It believes in the oneness of mankind.

The training offered by NETTC has been considered to be empowering individuals to pursue their own intellectual and spiritual growth and enables them to contribute to the betterment of their societies. It promotes a profound realization of reciprocal relationship between individual growth and transformation of society. Service to humanity is considered to be the organizing principle and an integral to NETTC’s educational curricula without which individual growth as well as betterment of society cannot be achieved.

NETTC upholds the view that a school teacher also has an important role in the advancement of the community, and this must be reflected in his/ her training. Therefore, NETTC has evolved an approach to Promoter of Community wellbeing that permeates its whole program. Development must therefore begin with the transformation of individuals. Individual transformation and development of community are complimentary to eachother. Unless the spiritual lives and morals of its people are transformed, it is impossible for a community to develop proficiently and harmoniously. To achieve balanced development, spiritual and material progress must go hand in hand.

Our History

New Era Teacher Training Centre (NETTC) originated from 1945 with the establishment of the New Era School and its social and economic development activities in the Chikali Valley that began in 1975. Under the guidance of the Universal House of Justice , the supreme administrative institution of the Baha’i Faith, a program of short courses for rural community development evolved until 1987 when the New Era Development Institute was formally established. In 1993 NEDI started its first one year pre-primary teacher training and community development course, followed shortly by the two year primary teacher training and community development course. Various technical courses were also offered through the years, but in 2003 NEDI became entirely devoted to teacher training and community development. The fact that teacher training at NEDI evolved from years of experience in rural development based on Baha’i principles has profoundly influenced its nature.
