What is Panchgani like?

Panchgani, a modern hill station, is located high (4300 feet above sea level) in the Western Ghats. It is 285 km. south-east of Mumbai and 100 km. south of Pune. Panchgani is a well-known educational centre with many well-established schools.

 

Panchgani is nestled at middle of five hills in the Sahyādri mountain ranges, also there are five villages around the Pachgani are Dandeghar, Khingar, Godwali, Amral & Taighat.The Krishnā River flows nearby which made the lake of Dhom Dam on the Krishna 9 K.M. from Wai.

 

The temperature in Panchgani is around 12C during the winter, and sometimes reaches 34C during the summer; however the humidity level is very low. The Monsoon rains hit here hardest and the rainy season spans between June and February, allowing the region three months of relatively dry and sunny spring.


One may take a direct bus from MUMBAI to PANCHGANI , or reach by train to PUNE, and then take a bus or a taxi to PANCHGANI . The charges from PUNE by Bus are approx. Rs. 150.00 (Semi-Luxury) , and Rs. 115.00 (Ordinary ), and by Taxi, approx. Rs. 1800.00 (Full).

The NETTC campus has a priceless view of the Krishna River and a beautiful view of Chickly Valley . There are separate residential facilities for men and women, which include 8 dormitory rooms each for male and female trainees . Two classroom buildings, a dining hall, one large assembly hall, a large playground and vast open spaces provide all the facilities and an ideal atmosphere for education and recreation.

Seasonal Clothing: Panchgani is at an altitude of 4300 feet above sea level and is cold during the monsoon and winter.

The monsoon in Panchgani is heavy and at times prolonged. Therefore it is advisable to bring enough clothes to last a week, as clothes take a long time to dry. All students are recommended to bring raincoats, umbrellas, rain-shoes and warm clothing with them.


Dictionaries: It is advisable for students to bring dictionaries from English to their own language and from their own language to English.
 

Bedding: NETTC provides beds, mattresses, pillows and blankets to all students. Students should bring their own bed sheets (2 nos.) and pillow covers (2 nos.).

Kitchen: Students should bring their own plates/thalis, glasses/cups bowls, fork and spoons.

Locker: Although NETTC will provide a locker to every student, the Institute does not take any responsibility for loss of money or valuables. Money and valuables if possessed should be deposited to the student affairs department while joining. All students should bring one small lock with them.

How long do we have to decide between 1 or 2 year course?

You have to decide within three months (If you are a female trainee), for male trainees one year course is not available.

 

Can we study other graduation during NETTC course?

No, you cannot because the course itself is very packed and practically the trainees will find no time. For 3 days of the week the classes are from 8 am to 8 pm and on the other 3 days the classes are from 8 am to 6 pm so there is no time to study other course. Students who try to do so are unable to become successful in any of the courses. It is advised to concentrate on NETTC’s training and after that they are free to continue their further education along with their jobs; in fact NETTC encourages its graduates to upgrade themselves in the field of education.

 

Can we go in between the course to give exam or for marriage?

No, you cannot go for exam or marriage during the course.

 

When are the holidays?

Only during the Diwali Vacation (Maximum one week) and a month long holidays for those who are taking two years training. Besides these their are nine Baha'i holidays over the year that are observed at the institute.

 

When can I go home?

No, you cannot go home during the course. (On emergencies only five days are granted) if one uses more than 5 days he / she has to pay a fine of Rs.500/- per day.

 

Can I go home on every weekend?

No, you cannot go home on every weekend because during the week ends students go in the nearby communities to implement the Rural Program which is integral to NETTC’ s Teacher Training Program.

 

Can I take long leave in between my studies?

No, you cannot take long leave in between your studies.

 

Can we cook in NETTC?

No, you cannot cook in NETTC.

 

Can I have my own mobile or laptop?

No, you cannot have your own mobile or laptop.

 

When can my family visit me?

On Sunday’s and holiday’s your family can visit you between 9am to 6pm only.

 

How do I call my family? In emergency whom to call?

There is NETTC’s Mobile phone in Dorm. So trinees take turns to call thier parents, there is also a land line phone on which parents can contact the students. In case of an emergency parents can contact the administrator.
